Biscuit

Biscuit is in development for the Shopify Theme Store. This documentation grows with the theme; details may change before release.

Overview

Biscuit is a Shopify theme for pet stores. It is built around three ideas: shopping by pet, subscriptions for things that run out, and clear product information — ingredients, feeding guides and sizes.

Installing

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
  2. Select Visit Theme Store and search for Biscuit.
  3. Select Try theme to preview it with your products, or buy it to add it to your theme library.
  4. Select Customize to edit it, then Publish when you are ready.

Theme settings

Open Customize → Theme settings to change global styles.

SettingWhat it does
Accent colorButtons, sticker badges and highlights.
Pet colorsOne color per pet type (dogs, cats, small pets, birds), used on cards and collection banners.
Outlines & shadowsOutline weight on cards and controls, and the offset shadow on primary buttons.

TypographyHeading and body fonts from the Shopify font library.

Sections

  • Hero — headline, two buttons, an image and an optional sticker badge.
  • Shop by pet — up to six pet cards, each linked to a collection.
  • Featured collection — products with badges, unit prices and quick add.
  • Subscription steps — explains how subscribe & save works.
  • Shop by need — round collection links (food, treats, toys…).
  • Image with text, Customer photos, Blog posts, Newsletter and Custom Liquid.

App blocks can be added to the product information and featured product sections.

Subscriptions

Biscuit shows Shopify selling plans on the product page and in the cart. To offer subscriptions you need a subscription app from the Shopify App Store that creates selling plans. Once a product has a selling plan, Biscuit displays “Subscribe & save” next to one-time purchase, with the delivery frequencies from the plan.

Feeding calculator

The “How long will a bag last?” block estimates how long a product lasts for a pet’s weight. It appears only on products that have a feeding guide.

Add a feeding guide

  1. In Settings → Custom data → Products, add a metafield definition with namespace and key biscuit.feeding_guide and type JSON.
  2. On each food product, fill it in, for example:
{
  "cups_per_lb": 4,
  "rows": [
    { "weight_lb": 10, "cups_per_day": 1 },
    { "weight_lb": 30, "cups_per_day": 2.25 },
    { "weight_lb": 50, "cups_per_day": 3 },
    { "weight_lb": 80, "cups_per_day": 4.25 }
  ]
}

Use the values from the product’s own label. Biscuit uses each variant’s weight to work out the estimate and suggests the closest subscription frequency.

Filters

Collection and search filters come from Shopify’s Search & Discovery app. Add filters such as availability, price, life stage or protein there, and Biscuit shows them in the filter sidebar.
